UMSHoF Member Rick Barry becomes the FIRST Hurricane basketball player to score 50 points in a game, when he tallies 50 in a 127-85 win at Rollins College ! Barry topped UMSHoF member Mike McCoy's year old record of 49 points versus Rollins in 1963, and UMSHoF member Sy Chadroff's previous record of 47 versus Rollins in 1952. In 1965, Barry would set the all time UM single game scoring record of 59 points against, you guessed it, Rollins College ! Rick would score 50 plus points in a game 8 times, the other 6 totals coming against Tampa (55), Florida Southern (54), Jacksonville (52), Tampa and Oklahoma City (51 each) and another 50 point performance against Houston. Barry is the only Hurricanes player to score 50 points in a game. The 1963-64 Canes, coached by UMSHoF member Bruce Hale, finished 20-7 and received a bid to the National Invitational Tournament in New York !
