UMSHoF member Vinny Testaverde becomes the FIRST Miami Hurricanes football player to be named the winner of the prestigious Heisman Trophy award ! Vinny's margin of victory in the balloting is the 7th largest margin of victory in the awards history. He tallied 2,213 points to 2nd place Temple University's Paul Palmer's 672 points. He captured all 6 regions of the country, and his 678 first place votes (out of 1,050 registered electors) is tied with Doug Flutie's for 10th place for most highest percentage of first place votes (64.6%).
